Food in Bali

Why Foodies love Bali

Bali is a mecca for food lovers.

Especially the Southern area of Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu.

It doesn’t matter if you are a vegetarian, vegan or meat lover.

From super healthy, organic food to Pizza, Burgers and the local cuisine – in Bali you get it all!

I listed our most favorite restaurants and cafes for your best food experience in Southern Bali.

Check it out and let us know how you like it! ;)

1. Healthy Food & Smoothie Bowls

Off course!

Smoothie Bowls!

Aren’t they what Bali is known for?!

(Except Yoga.)

Our favorite places to get a delicious smoothie bowl or other organic & healthy food options:

Betelnut Cafe – mid-range $$

In the middle of Canggu, you find this lovely place where you can sit upstairs overlooking the area.

And if you’re lucky you can watch the sunset front row.

We stopped by a few times.

Had Burgers (55.000IDR), Summer Rolls (30.000IDR) and of course tried one smoothie bowl of the day!

One day we did work from here, but they only have sockets downstairs in a closed room.

Open: 8am – 10pm

Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.60, Canggu

Peleton Supershop – upper-range $$$

This instagramable spot is famous for it’s beautifully decorated food.

We only stopped once for late breakfast and are sorry we didn’t make it another time!

From Smoothie Bowls to salads everything looks amazing and delicious.

I couldn’t stop staring at our breakfast instead of starting to eat.

It is all so beautiful it’s hard to take the first bit. :D

We had the ‘Moonshinemorning’ smoothie bowl (60.000IDR) and the ‘Avo good day’ (65.000IDR).

And drank an Iced Latte (35.000IDR) & an Espresso (25.000IDR)!

All prices EXCLUSIVE tax!

Open: 7:30am – 10pm

Address: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.46, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara

Bali Bowls – mid-range $$

This cute, environmental-friendly place kind of fell in our lap.

One day while driving around actually looking for a different cafe we saw this lovely spot.

Bali Bowls – as the name says – has lots of different bowls.

Smoothie, Salad, whatever kind of bowl you’re dreaming of.

We treated ourselves to a delicious smoothie bowl (50.000IDR).

For drinks, we had a Red Velvet Latte (35.000IDR) & a Hazelnut Latte (35.000IDR).

I couldn’t get enough of the Velvet Latte!

Funny Fact: The Velvet Latte is not real coffee – it’s just flavor powder with warm milk and foam. ;)

But they do have great coffee!

We stayed all morning to get some work done, which is easy having great coffee and a view.

Open: 7:30am – 10:30pm

Address: Jl. Segara Perancak, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara

Kynd Community – upper-range $$$

Another Insta famous spot in Bali.

But aren’t they all..

This spot was on my list from day one.

But it’s not that easy to find!

The outside area is tiny but worth a visit.

If only to get that one shot in front of the famous pink wall. ;)

We had a Pink Latte & the Golden Mylk (each 37.000IDR) – be aware the Golden Mylk is pretty spicy!

And for food ‘High Rollin’, rice paper rolls (55.000IDR).

All prices EXCLUSIVE tax!

Open: 6am – 5pm

Address: Jl. Petitenget No.12X, Kerobokan Kelod, Kuta Utara

Taman Nauli – mid-range $$

We loved this place.

It’s a bed&breakfast, which offers Yoga and great food!

We actually did regular yoga at Taman Nauli and can only recommend it!

It was located on our way to main Canggu, perfect for that early morning yoga class.

They also have delicious food.

We had the Avocado Toast, Hashbrowns and for drinks a two-colored fruit juice and Balinese coffee (total 130.000IDR).

Open: 8am – 10pm

Address: Jl. Raya Canggu No 167, Kerobokan

Nook – upper-range $$$

The highlight of this place is that they have Austrian dishes on the menu.

We had to check that out!

Berni even tried the (Austrian) Kaiserschmarrn – it’s similar to pancakes but better!.

We spent Christmas at Nook and opted for a huge breakfast (it was a day to celebrate). ;)

Balinese black coffee for 2, one mixed fruit juice, porridge, poached eggs & avocado toast AND the Kaiserschmarrn.

In total we paid 330.000IDR.

Open: 8am – 11pm

Address: Jl. Umalas 1 Gang Nook No. 1, Kuta Utara

2. Local Balinese Food

You need to visit at least one of the local Warungs, while in Bali.

Our most favorite one was a hidden gem!

Warung Kono – lower-range $

Another of those “STOP! That looks nice!” experiences on the road.

In a hidden corner, we were lucky to find Warung Kono.

Although being the only guests, it did not diminish the amazing experience!

We both order Nasi Goreng.

Watched the food being prepared in front of us – a special highlight!

And were amazed!

The picture does not do it justice – Sorry for that! we were too busy eating! ;)

Nasi Goreng Warung Kono

Street food – lower-range $

Aside from the local Warungs you should definitely try the street food.

Chicken Sate with peanut sauce or fried chicken – we tried it all! :D

Sate: 10 sticks for 10.000IDR (that’s the local price).

Fried chicken: 10.000IDR each

3. Great Coffee

Maybe you have noticed that we are both coffee addicts (Berni more than I).

Which means we are always looking for good coffee!

We weren’t sure if we could get lucky in Bali, to be honest, but we did find amazing spots. ;)

In the end, almost every place we’ve been to had some good stuff.

Our favorites:

Hungry Bird – lower-range $

Apart from really good coffee, this place is great for getting some work done!

You will see all the customers staring into their laptops. ;)

We actually were so busy working, we didn’t even take pictures.

We had both coffee and an amazing porridge for 82.000IDR in total.

Open: 8am – 5pm (closed on sundays)

Address: Jl. Raya Semat (Jl Perancak) No.86, Tibubeneng

Matcha Cafe Bali – mid-range $$

Another cute spot we found ‘accidentally’.

As the name reveals it’s all about Matcha, baby!

And they are real foam artists!

Open: 7:30am – 9:30pm

Address: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.99, Tibubeneng

4. Pizza time

Okay, normally we always try to eat as much local food as possible but we have to admit – we do love pizza.

And after almost 2 weeks in Bali, we had to check out the pizza places.

Luigi’s Hot Pizza – upper-range $$$

I love the name.

The pizza was hot indeed! :D

And delicious!

If it would have been up to me alone we would have eaten Luigi’s pizza for the rest of our stay in Canggu.

Sadly, this photo does not do it justice – no good light…

Our menu included 2 pizzas, water & a Bintang for 265.000IDR.

Open: 5pm – midnight

Address: Jl. Batu Mejan, Canggu

Luigis Hot Pizza

Pizza Fabbrica – mid-range $$

This spot is located at a cute street full of pizza places.

We saw at least three.

But decided to check this one out – it was the right choice.

Too bad, we were so hungry, after a long day on the motorbike, we did not take a single photo. :D

Sorry guys!

We had two delicious pizzas, water & a Bintang (as usual).

Open: 10am – midnight

Address: Jl. Batu Mejan Canggu

Let us know how you liked our favorite spots and also if you find some places even better!
